Our clients have a long association with the ‘The White House’, having holidayed there for many years in a shack on this site, eventually purchasing it.
Primary guiding principles -
• Respecting, viewing and framing multiple contexts. This included the existing modest shack, the relationship to the site, the landscape, and settlement patterns.
• Providing prospect and refuge, as it varies through the day and seasons.
• Housing and accommodating the creative and curatorial in our clients.
A set of ‘sub-themes’ -
• Exploring “shackness” and working with the undercroft.
• Linking the whole site, physically and visually.
